Here is a slideshow of thunderstorms approaching the Central Jersey area on August 1, 2012. These storms produced torrential rains around the region including heavy rains in Keansburg and up to two inches of rain in about an hour in the borough of Queens in New York City. Other areas hit hard by the torrential rains were Brooklyn and Staten Island as well as Northern Central Jersey. South Plainfield received 0.38 inches of rain from the storms.
