Severe Weather Update–Storms Pushing Through North Central Pennsylvania

Storms In Western New York Earlier This Afternoon Getting Better Organized In PA

Good afternoon.  GWC continues to watch for severe weather on this afternoon.  Some scattered storms had developed in Northwestern New Jersey and approached the area, but fizzled out.  However, after some cloud cover, the sun has come out along with some haze.  Around 2:00 PM, the temperature was at 98.2 degrees in South Plainfield.

More storms are on the way though.  Looking at the latest radar out of the National Weather Service office in Binghampton, New York, there are strong storms pushing southeastward through North Central Pennsylvania.  A growing line of storms extending from south of Towanda through Williamsport and Lock Haven and west to DuBois in Pennsylvania has spawned Severe Thunderstorm Warnings.

The NWS warning is out for Clinton, Lycoming, North Central Centre, Sullivan, East Central Cameron counties in Pennsylvania, and is in effect until 4:30 PM.  The advisory indicates that the storms could be capable of producing 70 mile per hour winds and quarter size hail.  NWS radar also indicated rotation with these storms so they could spawn a tornado.  The line of storms are moving to the Southeast at 30 miles per hour.
