Strong Storms Rolling Through Monmouth And Ocean Counties

Reports Of Hail And High Winds From Howell To Toms River

As mentioned earlier today, strong thunderstorms were a possibility late this afternoon and evening as scattered showers and storms developed throughout the Garden State. The biggest flare up appears to be close to the Jersey Shore. A strong and large thunderstorm cell that has produced cloud tops of up to 30,000 feet and can be seen from as far away as Manhattan developed during the 4:00 PM in Howell, and was moving in the direction of Brick Township in Ocean County.

More storms flared up near Manchester Township, and were pushing towards Toms River. All of these storms were heading in the direction of Seaside Heights, Seaside Park, Island Beach State Park, and Long Beach Island. The storms had signs of rotation in them, and could at least produce hail and high winds. Back near home in Northwestern Middlesex County, the skies have darkened from time to time, and winds got gusty for a while, but very little if any rain has fallen.

There have been no severe thunderstorm warnings issued for the area in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. No watches have been issued either although there have been Hazardous Weather Outlooks and Short Term forecasts issued.
