Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued In Central Jersey

Northwestern Middlesex County Now In Crosshairs Of Severe Storm

Just a little while ago, I posted here on the blog about a line of showers and thunderstorms moving in from the west.  The National Weather Service Office in Mount Holly had issued a Special Weather Statement about this line at about 12:30 PM Sunday afternoon.  Now, the line has produced a significant thunderstorm cell that is pushing eastward through Northern Somerset and Northwestern Middlesex County.

The storm, located near Annandale in Hunterdon County at the time of the warning, was pushing southeastward at 25 miles per hour.  This storm was capable of producing damaging winds and hail.  Winds in the storm were estimated at 60 miles per hour, and quarter sized hail was also reported.  The storm is pushing through towards Bridgewater and Flagtown, and will be in the area of Middlesex County by about 2:30 PM.

Greg’s Weather Center will continue to monitor the progress of this storm cell.
