Here is a slide show of pictures that I took of thunderstorms hitting the Route 36 corridor of the Jersey Shore from Waterfront Park in South Amboy. Strong to severe thunderstorms drove through the heat and humidity that had roasted much of the Garden State over the previous four days. It was the hottest day of the year so far with the actual temperature reaching 102 while the heat index rose to 118!
