Severe Weather Possible On Sunday Night

Strong To Severe Thunderstorms Scattered Throughout Region

Been watching the weather all day today with a good deal of curiosity.  While it was cloudy for much of the day, temperatures almost hit 90 as of late this afternoon, and the sun did come out for a while.  The result has been the development of strong to severe thunderstorms around the region from Eastern Pennsylvania to Southeastern New York to extreme Southern New Jersey and Delaware.

One thunderstorm in particular has drawn great interest from GWC.  A storm cell located just to the west of Allentown in Eastern Pennsylvania is a monster.  The National Weather Service office in Mount Holly indicated that this storm had a signature on Doppler radar that showed the potential for damaging winds, large hail, and dangerous lightning.  A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is out for several counties in Eastern Pennsylvania including Northamption and Lehigh.

The storms associated with this cell have the capability of producing quarter sized hail, 60 mile per hour winds, heavy rain, and dangerous lightning.  This line is racing toward the east as well at 40 miles per hour.  I was outside a little while ago and while temperatures have cooled down a bit, there is still a bit of humidity in the air.  So, there is a chance that some of this severe weather could end up here.  More storms are lurking to the west in Central Pennsylvania near Harrisburg.
