Flash Flood Watch Out For Portions Of West Jersey

In light of the latest showers and storms in the Garden State, the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly, New Jersey has issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of Western New Jersey as well as parts of Northeastern Pennsylvania from 12:00 PM EDT to this evening.

Counties under this watch include Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Sussex, and Warren in New Jersey as well as Carbon, Monroe, and Northampton in Pennsylvania. Cities impacted include: Flemington, Hackettstown, Morristown, Newton, Somerville, and Washington in New Jersey as well as Bethlehem, Easton, Jim Thorpe, and Stroudsburg in Pennsylvania. There has been a tremendous amount of rain in this area over the past few days including strong to severe thunderstorms on Thursday afternoon. So, the ground is very saturated right now.

In addition, more showers and storms are expected in this area, and they are capable of producing another inch of rainfall on Friday afternoon. Consequently, conditions exist for dangerous flash flooding to occur.
