Severe Thunderstorm Watch For Jersey

Just a few moments ago, I was alerted with a Severe Thunderstorm Watch. The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch #683 for the Central Jersey region including South Plainfield in Northwestern Middlesex County as well as other cities and towns such as Piscataway, New Brunswick, Perth Amboy, Freehold, Sandy Hook, Trenton, Somerville, Flemington, Morristown, Newton, Jackson, Camden, Cherry Hill, Glassboro, Hammonton, Mount Holly, Atlantic City, and Long Beach Island. The watch is in effect until 11:00 PM this evening.

As mentioned earlier, we have seen very warm and humid weather today, and a cold front is going to try and break through that air later this afternoon and early this evening. Strong to severe thunderstorms were reported throughout much of Pennsylvania today, and they should approach the Garden State by around dinner time, and last until around 9:00 PM. So, we could be in for a repeat performance of last Thursday’s severe weather. Even when this outbreak calms down, there is still a chance for more wild weather later this week. The cold front is expected to morph into a warm front, and move back over our area on Thursday before finally pushing through much cooler and drier air later on Friday afternoon and evening. Temperatures could reach 90 or higher on Friday.
