New Watches Issued For Hurricane Jimena

Good evening everyone. Well, I’m about to call it a night, but I’m still watching Hurricane Jimena as it heads Northwestward to Baja California in Mexico. Maximum sustained winds remain at 155 miles per hour, and its pressure remains status quo at 931 millibars, or 27.49 inches of Hg. Jimena is now located some 245 miles South of Cabo San Lucas on the southernmost tip of Baja California, or about 410 miles South-Southeast of Cabo San Lazaro.

The big change in this latest advisory is the watches. The Hurricane Watch has been extended northward on both coasts of Baja California. The Watch now extends from north of Baja Magdalena to Punta Eugenia on the West Coast of the Baja, and from north of San Evaristo to Bahia San Juan Bautista on the East Coast. In addition, the Government of Mexico has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for the West Coast of the Mexican mainland from Altata to Huatabampito. Interests throughout the Baja, and along the West Coast of Mexico should continue closely monitoring the progress of this system.
