Here is a collection of video footage of the effects from the recent nor’easter in Northern Middlesex County, New Jersey from October 2nd to October 4th, 2015. During this period, there was approximately 0.90 inches of rain at GWC in South Plainfield. In addition, the barometer fell to 29.62 inches at the storm’s height. Winds gusted along the coast to 45 mph while heavy surf, rip currents, elevated tides, and coastal flooding affected towns along the Jersey Shore from South Amboy to Long Beach Island to Wildwood.
Here is video footage of thunderstorms moving through Northern Middlesex County on the first Saturday of September 2014. On this day, the temperature rose to 92 degrees, the hottest since July 2nd. Dew point at GWC climbed to 78 to produce a heat index of 106. Then, several waves of thunderstorms came through ahead of a cold front producing gusty winds, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain.
Here is storm footage of a thunderstorm that moved through the Corona Park and Flushing sections of Queens near Citi Field and LaGuardia Airport on the last Sunday of August 2014. The heat and humidity returned on this day with a high of 88 degrees in Flushing and 90 at GWC in South Plainfield with a peak dew point of 76 and a heat index of 102 before the storms came through.
Here is weather footage of heavy surf getting stirred up along the Jersey Shore courtesy of Hurricane Cristobal on the final Wednesday of August 2014. Cristobal, the third named storm and hurricane of the 2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season, has only been a Category One Hurricane to date with peak winds of 80 mph, but it churned up the surf with wave heights ranging between 3 to 6 feet above normal. The storm stayed away from the U.S. East Coast while staying west of Bermuda. It did dump a good deal of rain on the Turks and Caicos islands and the Southeastern Bahamas earlier in the week.
Here is weather footage from a visit to High Point, New Jersey. This video was shot by the High Point Monument, which symbolizes the highest elevation in the Garden State at 1,803 feet. On this day, the weather was cloudy and foggy with a bit of mist. The weather overall around the Garden State was cloudy after some rain came through on Thursday night and early Friday morning.
